Mobile Golf Cart Repair in Inverness

Mobile Golf Cart Repair in Inverness, Inverness, FL

Inverness Golf Cart Repair comes to your driveway, garage, or cart barn anywhere in Inverness and Citrus County and fixes the cart where it sits. The $50 to $100 service call includes the on-site diagnostic and is applied toward the repair, most jobs finish in a single visit because the common parts ride on the truck, and every price we work from is published on the pricing page before you contact us. Club Car, E-Z-GO, Yamaha, ICON, Evolution, electric and gas.

Nobody in Inverness wants to find a trailer, a hitch, and a friend with a truck to get a dead cart to a shop. Citrus County’s median age is 57.9 and 37.3 percent of residents are 65 or older, and inside Citrus Hills the 2020 Census put the 65-plus share at 55.7 percent. A lot of owners here would rather not lift a 60-pound battery in a hot garage, and they should not have to. Mobile is not a convenience add-on in this market. It is the only version of the service that makes sense.

What a mobile visit covers

Will not move. The cart is on, the key is on, the pedal does nothing, or it clicks and does nothing. That is a solenoid, controller, throttle input, motor, or cable problem, and the order we test in is the order that costs you least. Details on the motor and controller repair page and the clicks but will not move symptom page.

Will not charge, or the charger never clicks off. Charger output test, charge-port pin check, receptacle wiring, and then the pack. A charge port is a $100 to $300 fix rather than a $1,200 one. See charger repair.

Weak, slow, sags on the way back from town. Per-battery load test and voltage-drop checks along the main cables. Sometimes it is the pack, sometimes it is one bad battery in a young pack, sometimes it is a corroded cable strangling a healthy pack. The battery replacement page has the honest math for when it really is the pack.

Squeals, grinds, pulls, or rolls at a stop. Brakes. Adjustment is about $75; shoes and drums $100 to $250; a full overhaul $200 to $400. See brakes and tires.

Cupped, cracked, or bald tires. $75 to $150 each installed, usually the same visit.

Lights, signals, mirror, reflectors. F.S. 316.212(6) requires efficient brakes, reliable steering, safe tires, a rearview mirror, and red reflectors front and rear on any designated street, and night use needs headlights, brake lights, turn signals, and a windshield where the local government allows it. Low-speed vehicles carry the fuller list under F.S. 316.2122. We repair and install all of it; see lights and street-legal equipment.

The diagnostic, in order

We do the same sequence on every cart, because skipping steps is how people get sold batteries they did not need.

  1. Listen and look. The symptom description, the battery date codes, the condition of the terminals and cable ends, the water level in the cells, the charger’s indicator behavior.
  2. Pack voltage, then per-battery voltage. A 48V pack resting at 48 volts with one battery at 6 volts and five at 8.4 is a one-battery problem, not a pack problem.
  3. Load test each battery. Voltage under load is what the motor actually sees. A battery that reads fine at rest and collapses under load is done.
  4. Hydrometer on flooded packs. Specific gravity cell by cell. A cell well below its neighbors is sulfated or shorted.
  5. Voltage drop along the main cables under load. A healthy cable drops almost nothing. A corroded one can drop a volt or more, which at cart currents is enormous.
  6. Charger output at the plug and at the receptacle.
  7. Solenoid, controller, and throttle input if the cart still will not move with a healthy pack behind it.

You get a flat quote when that sequence is finished, not before. If you want a rough number before we roll, the repair cost calculator uses the same price list.

Where we go

Inverness, on the western shore of the Tsala Apopka and Lake Henderson chain, and just south of it Floral City at the other end of the lakes. North to Hernando and northwest to Citrus Hills, the county’s biggest golf-anchored community. Beverly Hills and Lecanto along the US 41 and SR 44 corridor. West to Crystal River on Kings Bay and Homosassa on the historic riverfront. Southwest to Sugarmill Woods and its two golf courses. Distance moves the trip fee inside its $50 to $100 range; it never changes the repair price.

Heat carts and storm carts

Two local patterns account for a lot of our calls.

The summer sit. NOAA’s 1991 to 2020 normals for the Inverness 3 SE station count 111.7 days a year at 90°F or above, and a closed garage runs hotter than the air outside. A flooded pack parked at partial charge through that loses water, sulfates, and comes back in the fall with less than it had. The sat all summer page explains what is recoverable. How the cart was left decides most of it: fully charged, on a maintainer, with the water topped, a pack usually survives.

Before and after storms. Hurricane Helene put the largest storm surge ever recorded in Citrus County history into Crystal River on September 27, 2024, and Citrus County deputies rescued more than 100 people that day. Ahead of a forecast we prioritize charger and battery calls so carts are fully charged before the power goes. Afterward, on the Gulf side we see saltwater in battery compartments; inland we see chargers that took a surge when the power came back. Our storm-season prep guide has the checklist.

Inland carts, coastal carts

Inverness sits inland on freshwater lakes, and the corrosion problem there is heat and humidity, not salt. The salt problem belongs to Crystal River and Homosassa, where a cluster of 50 first-magnitude springs feeds Kings Bay and tidal rivers reach the Gulf; carts there get terminals coated and hardware checked more often. Carts inside Citrus Hills or Sugarmill Woods get the heat-and-humidity treatment instead: watering schedule, terminal cleaning, connection checks. We do not sell coastal service to inland carts.

Independent, insured, straight with you

We are an independent mobile service. We are not an authorized dealer or warranty center for Club Car, E-Z-GO, Yamaha, ICON, Evolution, or any other manufacturer, and if your cart is under factory warranty your selling dealer is the right call for warranty work. Repairs are performed by experienced, insured local golf cart technicians. Every price we charge is on the pricing page, every question we hear often is on the FAQ, and if a repair does not make sense against the value of an old cart, we say so.

Book a visit

Tell us the brand, gas or electric, the battery count if you can see it, and what the cart is doing. A photo of the battery compartment and the dash helps. You will get a flat number and a window fast, and in most of the service area the truck is in your driveway the same day or the next.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can you actually fix in my driveway?

Almost everything a cart does wrong: battery packs, solenoids, controllers, motors, chargers and charge ports, brakes, tires, cables and terminals, lights and signals, and tune-ups. Battery sets, solenoids, brake shoes, and tires ride on the truck, so most jobs finish in one visit. The rare exception is a major motor rebuild, and we tell you that up front.

How fast can you get to Citrus Hills or Crystal River?

Same-day or next-day is the norm across the service area. Inverness and the communities closest to it are usually fastest; Crystal River, Homosassa, and Sugarmill Woods are the far end of the county and may be next-day. Say if the cart is your only transportation and we will prioritize it.

Do I need to be home?

It helps but is not required. If the cart is in an open garage or driveway and we have your approval by text or email on the quote, the work can be done without you. Inside a gated community, let the gatehouse know to expect us at the scheduled window.

What does the service call cost, and is it wasted if I decline the repair?

$50 to $100 depending on where you are in Citrus County, and it includes the full on-site diagnostic. Approve the repair and it is applied toward the work. Decline and you pay the trip fee only, and you leave knowing exactly what is wrong and what it would cost.

Do you work on gas carts?

Yes. Most carts in this county are electric, but gas carts get the same mobile service: starter-generators, belts, carburetors, fuel systems, plugs, and filters. A gas tune-up runs $150 to $300.
